How to video to GIF

Turn a funny moment, a product demo or a reaction into a GIF you can share anywhere. Choose up to 15 seconds of your video, pick a frame rate and width, and decide whether it loops forever. We build the colour palette from your own clip, so the GIF looks like the video instead of a blotchy, banded copy.

  1. Upload the video you want to turn into a GIF.
  2. Select up to 15 seconds, then set the frame rate, width and loop option.
  3. Press Make GIF and download your animated GIF.

This tool runs on our servers. Your file travels over an encrypted connection and is deleted automatically 2 hours after processing.

Questions people ask

How long can my GIF be?

Up to 15 seconds. Longer GIFs become larger than the video they came from and are hard to share, so trim to the best moment.

Which frame rate and width should I use?

15 fps at 480px is a good balance for chat apps and websites. Choose 10 fps or 320px for a smaller file, or 24 fps and 640px for smoother, sharper motion. Original width keeps the video's own size.

Will my GIF have sound?

No. The GIF format cannot hold audio, so the sound is left out. Use Extract audio if you also want the sound.

Can I make a GIF that plays only once?

Yes. Turn off Loop forever and the GIF plays once and stops on the last frame.

Is my video stored after making the GIF?

The video is processed on our servers and deleted 2 hours after processing.
