How to extract audio from video

Want the song from a clip, the speech from a recorded lecture, or the sound of a family video? This tool pulls the audio track out of a video and saves it on its own. Video to MP3 is the default, and you can also save as M4A, AAC or uncompressed WAV. If the video has no sound at all, we tell you rather than giving you a silent file.

  1. Upload the video that has the sound you want.
  2. Choose MP3, WAV, M4A or AAC and a quality of 128, 192 or 320 kbps.
  3. Press Extract audio and download the audio file.

This tool runs on our servers. Your file travels over an encrypted connection and is deleted automatically 2 hours after processing.

Questions people ask

How do I convert a video to MP3?

Upload the video, leave the format on MP3 and press Extract audio. You get an MP3 file with the same name as your video.

Which quality should I pick?

192 kbps is a good balance for most music and speech. Choose 128 kbps for the smallest file, or 320 kbps for the best sound.

Why did it say my video has no audio track?

Some screen recordings and exported clips are saved without any sound. There is nothing to extract from those, so we stop and explain instead of making an empty file.

If a video has two audio tracks, which one do I get?

The first audio track in the file, which is normally the main one.

Is my video kept after extraction?

The video is uploaded to our servers for processing and deleted 2 hours after processing.
