How to download file from link

Have a direct link to an .mp4, .mp3 or .jpg? Paste it and we fetch the file as it is, with no re-encoding. For links from YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Pinterest or Reddit, we show only what that platform officially makes available, such as the title and cover image. Some platforms do not offer the video to download at all, and we tell you when that is the case.

  1. Paste the link to the file or post.
  2. See what is available for that link and pick the option you want.
  3. Press Fetch file and download it to your device.

This tool runs on our servers. Your file travels over an encrypted connection and is deleted automatically 2 hours after processing.

Questions people ask

Can I download YouTube videos here?

No. YouTube does not offer its videos for download to anyone outside its own apps, so we do not either. For a YouTube link you can save the video's cover image, and your own uploads are available from YouTube Studio.

What about Instagram, Facebook or TikTok links?

These platforms only release media to the account that owns it, so for most links you can save the cover image rather than the video. The tool explains what that platform allows when you paste the link.

Which links download the actual video?

Direct links that point straight at a media file, such as an address ending in .mp4 or .mp3, download in full. For some platforms, a video can be offered when that platform's own API makes it available.

Is the file converted or compressed?

No. You get the same file the link points to, and its type is checked from the file's contents rather than the link's name. If you need a smaller file afterwards, use Compress video.

Is it legal to download videos from a link?

We only fetch files a site serves directly or a platform officially makes available. It is still your responsibility to have the right to save and use what you download.
