How to split PDF

Need only the first page of a long bank statement, or one chapter from a 300-page ebook? Split PDF gives you five ways to divide a file: a custom range like 1-5, 8-12, every page as its own PDF, only the odd pages, only the even pages, or fixed groups of pages. It works entirely on your device, with no upload.

  1. Choose the PDF you want to split.
  2. Pick a split mode, then type a page range or tap the page thumbnails.
  3. Press Split PDF and download the new file, or a ZIP if there are several.

Runs in your browser. Your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Why use this tool

Long documents are awkward to share when someone needs only part of them. Splitting pulls out exactly the pages you need, and leaves the rest of the file out of the conversation.

Five modes cover most jobs: a custom range, every page as its own file, only odd or only even pages (useful after double-sided scanning), or equal groups of pages. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so quality does not change.

It runs in your browser with no signup, and the original PDF is never modified.

Questions people ask

How do I type a page range?

Use numbers and hyphens separated by commas, for example 1-3, 7, 10-12. You can also tap pages in the thumbnail grid instead of typing.

Why did I get a ZIP file?

When a split produces more than one PDF, such as every page separate or groups of pages, they are packed into one ZIP so you download them together. A single-file result comes as a plain PDF.

Is there a limit on how many files it can make?

One split can create up to 300 separate PDFs in the browser. For a longer document, use larger groups or split out a range instead.

Does splitting change my original file?

No. Your original PDF is only read, never changed. The pages you pull out are saved as new files with names based on the original.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser, and you can tap page thumbnails to choose pages without typing.
