PDF Resizer
Make a PDF smaller without wrecking it.
How to PDF resizer
Upload forms rarely say make it a bit smaller; they say under 200 KB. The PDF resizer works the same way: choose the size limit, drop your PDF, and it compresses the file to fit under that limit at the best quality it can reach, measuring the real output each time.
- Drop your PDF and choose a target size, from 100 KB to 1 MB.
- Press Resize PDF while the tool tries different quality levels.
- Download the result and check the size shown on the result line.
Runs in your browser. Your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded to our servers.
Why use this tool
Regular compression asks you to choose a quality level and hope the size works out. The resizer turns that around: you choose the size, and it chooses the quality.
It is honest about limits. A scanned or photo-heavy PDF can shrink a lot, but a PDF that is mostly typed text is already small, and some targets cannot be reached. When that happens you get the smallest version possible and are told its real size.
Resizing runs in your browser, so there is no upload, no account and no waiting in a queue. If you would rather choose a quality level yourself, Compress PDF has presets and a slider.
Questions people ask
Does resizing change the page size, like A4 to A5?
No. It changes the file size in KB or MB. Pages keep the same dimensions; only the images inside are compressed.
Which target should I pick?
Use the limit the form gives you. If none is given, 500 KB keeps most documents sharp while staying easy to upload and email.
Why did it say the target was not reachable?
The PDF has little image data left to shrink, usually because it is mostly text. The result is the smallest version possible. Removing pages you do not need is the next best step.
Is it free?
Yes, with no signup, no watermark and no upload. It all runs on your own device.
