Repair PDF
Rescue a file that will not open.
How to repair PDF
A PDF that says "file is damaged" or refuses to open usually has a broken internal index, or it stopped part-way through a download or email transfer. This tool rebuilds the file's structure so a PDF reader can open it again. It tells you how many pages it recovered, and if nothing could be saved it says so instead of giving you an empty file.
- Upload the PDF that will not open or shows an error.
- Choose Standard repair first, or Deep reconstruction if standard repair could not fix it.
- Press Repair PDF, check how many pages were recovered, and download the fixed file.
This tool runs on our servers. Your file travels over an encrypted connection and is deleted automatically 2 hours after processing.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between Standard and Deep repair?
Standard repair rebuilds the file's index and object structure, which fixes most PDFs that will not open. Deep reconstruction also rebuilds page objects by scanning the whole file, which is slower and may drop damaged pages instead of failing.
Can every damaged PDF be fixed?
No. If the page content itself was overwritten, no tool can bring it back. We tell you exactly what was recovered rather than promising a full rescue.
My PDF only half downloaded. Can this help?
Often, yes. Truncated files are one of the cases the repair is built for, and it can usually save the pages that arrived before the download stopped.
Can it open a password-protected PDF?
No. A password is not damage. If you know the password, use Unlock PDF instead.
Is my file safe?
The repair runs on our servers, so the file is uploaded. It is deleted 2 hours after processing.
