How to rotate image

A photo that shows up sideways on a form, or a selfie that came out mirrored, takes a few seconds to fix here. Turn the image 90 degrees left or right as many times as you need, and flip it horizontally or vertically. The work happens on your device, not on a server.

  1. Add one JPG, PNG, WebP or BMP image.
  2. Use the rotate left, rotate right and flip buttons until the preview looks right.
  3. Click Rotate image and download the corrected photo.

Runs in your browser. Your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Questions people ask

Does rotating a JPG reduce its quality?

For most JPG photos, no. The tool updates the orientation tag instead of re-compressing the picture, and the result screen tells you which method was used. If a file does not allow that, it is re-saved at high quality.

Can I rotate by a custom angle like 45 degrees?

No. It turns in 90 degree steps and flips, which keeps every pixel exact. Use the crop tool if you only need to trim the edges.

How do I fix a mirrored selfie?

Press the flip horizontally button and download. Flipping both horizontally and vertically is the same as turning the photo 180 degrees.

Why did my photo look upright on my phone but sideways on the website?

Phones often store the picture sideways and add a tag saying which way is up, and some websites ignore that tag. Rotating here fixes how the photo appears when you upload it.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. Rotation runs entirely in your browser.
