How to PDF to HTML

Want to put the content of a PDF on a website or read it comfortably on a phone? This tool turns the PDF's text and images into a single .html file. By default the page reflows to fit any screen, or you can keep the original page layout. Fidelity is imperfect: drawn lines, boxes and background shapes do not carry over.

  1. Upload a PDF with selectable text.
  2. Choose whether to keep images and whether to preserve the original page layout.
  3. Press Convert to HTML and download the .html file.

This tool runs on our servers. Your file travels over an encrypted connection and is deleted automatically 2 hours after processing.

Questions people ask

Will the web page look exactly like my PDF?

Not exactly. Text and images carry over, but drawn lines, boxes and background shapes do not, and tables or multi-column layouts may shift. It works best for reading and reusing the text.

Where do the images go?

With Keep images on, they are embedded directly inside the HTML file, so it stays one file you can move around. With it off, images are left out entirely.

What does Preserve the original layout do?

It positions everything with inline CSS to match the PDF page. That is closer to the source but gives a larger file that keeps the printed page width instead of fitting a phone screen.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to HTML?

No. A scan has no text layer, and we do not offer OCR yet, so the tool stops and explains rather than giving you an empty page.

How long is my file kept?

It is processed on our servers and deleted 2 hours after processing.
