Change between JPG, PNG and WEBP.
How to image converter
Some websites only accept JPG, some design tools want PNG, and WebP makes pages load faster. This image converter changes one picture between those three formats, with a quality slider for JPG and WebP. It also opens BMP and iPhone HEIC files, and all the work happens on your device.
- Add one image in JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP or HEIC format.
- Choose JPG, PNG or WebP as the new format, and set the quality if you picked JPG or WebP.
- Click Convert image and download the converted file.
Runs in your browser. Your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded to our servers.
Questions people ask
Which format should I choose?
JPG is the safest choice for photos on forms and websites. PNG keeps every detail and supports transparency but makes bigger files. WebP gives smaller files than JPG at similar quality and works in all modern browsers.
What happens to a transparent background when I convert to JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white instead of turning black. Pick PNG or WebP if you need to keep the see-through background.
Can I convert to AVIF, GIF or TIFF?
Not at the moment. The converter writes JPG, PNG and WebP only.
Why can I not convert a JPG to JPG?
That would only lower the quality without changing anything useful. If you want a smaller JPG, use the compress image tool instead.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device. Very large images, above about 40 megapixels, are turned away so your browser tab does not run out of memory.
